150th anniversary committee names
Chippewa Golf & Country Club
to host official golf tournament July 12

Southampton, Ont., Jan. 25, 2008 -- The 150th Anniversary Committee has sanctioned Chippewa Golf & Country Club to host a special golf tournament to help celebrate Southampton's 150th Anniversary.

Committee chair Shirley Irwin said, "We're so glad Chippewa Golf & Country Club has stepped forward as a big community supporter of our anniversary celebrations. The committee has approved Chippewa as host of a major tournament named 'Southampton's 150th Anniversary Golf Tournament', on July 12, 2008."

The golf club's Owner and General Manager, Geza Kocsis, said that Chippewa is "thrilled to partner with the 150th Anniversary Committee -- we are donating all proceeds from the July 12 tournament to the committee."

Chippewa Golf & Country Club will host a series of special golf events themed around Southamptonšs 150th Anniversary, including a four-person scramble golf tournament on July 12, 2008 and special golf packages for each long weekend and during Aug. 14-17 Anniversary Weekend.

The big tournament will take place Saturday, July 12. One lucky golfer will win the grand prize, a lifetime membership to Chippewa. The format will be a four-person team scramble with registration at 11 a.m. and a deli-style lunch compliments of the Walker House. Official tee-off and shotgun start is at 1 p.m. Chippewa and Molsonšs will host a post-play reception, followed by a BBQ steak dinner, compliments of Chippewa and Foodland.

The entry fee of $100 per person will include: 18 holes of golf with power carts; a commemorative 150th Anniversary bag tag; a deli-style lunch; group photo; post-play reception; BBQ steak dinner and individual prizes for each participant.

In addition to the Southampton's 150th Anniversary Golf Tournament, Chippewa will feature a series of special golf days throughout the 2008 golf season, to help golfers of all levels celebrate the town's sesquicentennial.
