Seeking memories for Southampton Remembered book

Southampton, Ont., Sept. 1, 2007 -- Volunteers continue to step forward with projects to mark 150 years of Southampton history.

The latest way to celebrate Southampton's 150th anniversary is the Southampton Remembered book.

People are asked to submit vignettes about Southampton life -- stories, poems and memoirs -- to include in the book. These could be memories from "then and now", to correspond with the old and new photos being collected.

As Coordinator Jill Roote puts it, "There's a little Southampton in everyone. We'd like everybody with fond memories to share them with all of us."

To make a contribution, contact: Southampton Remembered, Jill Roote, 519-797-1020, jroote@sympatico.ca.

The big 150th anniversary long weekend is Aug. 14-17, 2008.
