Welcome to Adoption Helper! I hope you'll visit often for the latest developments in adoption. I'd like to tell you about a recent development here: Adoption Resource Central.
Ever since I started publishing Adoption Helper magazine in 1990 -- it's now called Family Helper -- I've been accumulating adoption resources. Now I've assembled everything into one spot, Adoption Resource Central, at www.familyhelper.net/arc.
You can click on one of 28 topics, read a topic summary and then see web sites, articles, books, email lists, newsletters and videotapes which are related to the topic. I hope this will be a useful feature for adoptive parents, researchers, teachers, social workers, in fact everyone with a connection to adoption. Do let me know of any improvements you'd like to suggest.
The adoption situation changes so rapidly, especially in international adoption. Be sure to check "Adoption News Central" for the latest news. I update it frequently.
Also, don't miss "Coming Events" -- many support groups contribute their events to this list, so it's up to date, and lists all the contact names and numbers. At the bottom of the events list are Archived Events, so you can see which groups have been active in the past.

Awards
1995 -- Adoption Helper magazine received an Ontario Adoption Award from the Adoption Council of Ontario, "in recognition of its outstanding contribution to the adoption community of Ontario."
1997 -- Jennifer Smart, editor of Post-adoption Helper, received an Ontario Adoption Award from the Adoption Council of Ontario for her work on behalf of adoption causes.
2001 -- Robin Hilborn, editor of Adoption Helper, received an Adoption Activist Award from the North American Council on Adoptable Children for "dedicated work in making adoption information more accessible and providing materials for post-adoptive support".
